Red Deer

We have a herd of Red Deer in the park – they are spectacular animals, the largest native land animal in the UK. Our dominant Stag is Shackleton. His great grandfather, called Royal Hotspur is known for having the heaviest recorded antlers in NZ in 2021. Shakleton will grow to four feet tall at the shoulder and weigh up to 200 kg. The Estate is also home to wild Fallow, Roe and Muntjac deer.
