Storing Crops

When the crops are harvested they are all brought back to the farmyard and stored in large grain stores. We have a weighbridge so that all the crops are weighed as they come into store. We also test them for quality and to see how dry they are. Crops must be stored at the correct moisture content in order to maintain the quality. If we have to dry our crops we can either do it by putting them on a ventilated floor and blowing warm air through them or by putting them through a conventional drier which uses heat to remove excess moisture.
