Rooksnest Estate grows a diverse range of crops managed through rotation to protect soil health and exposure to methods of controlling weeds and diseases as well as spreading risk in a global grain market.
Every hectare of the Estate has been conductivity scanned to help us understand our soils and their requirements. This information tells us what trace elements, pH, stone content, texture and water holding ability the soil has. This forms the foundations for guiding us with our variable rate seed rate, nutrition and fungicide programmes on a per square metre basis. This not only helps us to apply products only where necessary which reduces our reliance on artificial inputs which is positive for the environment and nature and the viability of the business.
